On July 30, Authorities İntervened As More Than 800 İrregular Migrants Attempted to Swim From Morocco's Fnideq Coast to Ceuta

Spain's Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares said his country will ask its European partners for solidarity in response to the irregular migrant influx into Ceuta, Spain's North African territory. Speaking to state broadcaster TVE, Albares said Spain will make the request during a meeting of interior ministers from the 27 EU member states and the European Commission scheduled for Friday. He accused "international reactionary forces" of acting in concert, exaggerating events and spreading "lies and fake news about the Schengen area.
Albares also stressed that Morocco has cooperated "from the very beginning" to resolve the crisis. On July 30, authorities intervened as more than 800 irregular migrants attempted to swim from Morocco's Fnideq coast to Ceuta. Spain's government mobilized all available resources and deployed armed forces to the area to ensure security. The death toll among irregular migrants trying to cross from Morocco to Spain has reached 88."
