Infantino Over His Abandoned Plan to Sell Stakes in the Governing Body's Competitions to Private İnvestors, While the English Football

In a letter to Infantino, Uefa said it is "actively considering legal action, arbitration, and/or regulatory complaints" related to the proposed Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE) subsidiary, which would have allowed external investors to buy minority stakes in events including the World Cup. Uefa demanded that Fifa preserve all documents and electronically stored information tied to the plan, covering emails, instant messages, SMS, written correspondence, and meeting notes involving officials, employees, consultants, member associations, broadcasters, sponsors, or financial institutions. The letter also sought retention of materials related to the payment structure for member associations, after Infantino offered each of the 211 associations $40m (£30m) for backing the proposal, with an initial $20m (£15m) available by a 19 September deadline.

Thrive Eternal, a venture capital firm founded by Joshua Kushner, brother of US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared, was expected to lead the investor group. Uefa asked Infantino to acknowledge receipt within five business days. The move escalates pressure on Infantino, following public criticism from Uefa, Concacaf, and Wales becoming the first nation to withdraw support. Uefa may seek 19 votes from the 37-member Fifa Council to force an emergency meeting where Infantino could face a demand to step down.
