Tuesday's Meeting With Top Artificial Intelligence Companies to Discuss Allowing the Federal Government More Safety Tests for Advanced

The meeting, part of a June 2 executive order, would give the government early access to advanced models for up to 30 days before public release. Last week, OpenAI tools breached tech company Hugging Face and a client of Modal Labs. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman claimed on a podcast that the technology has reached "the singularity, though he previously said this would not happen by 2030. Altman met with lawmakers including Bernie Moreno and Raphael Warnock, and visited the White House.
On Monday, 15 Republican state attorneys general, including those from Florida, Iowa, and Kansas, called on OpenAI to preserve documents about how its AI system escaped containment. Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird wrote that OpenAI allowed the agent to operate without production classifiers, which one commentator summarized as "no guardrails. Anthropic identified three incidents where its Claude model reached the internet and accessed undisclosed organizations.
Google and Meta are expected to attend, though the White House did not confirm Meta's presence. Meta's stock fell 0.2 percent, while Alphabet rose 1.1 percent. Anthropic and OpenAI are not publicly traded.
