Taxes and Duties Remain at Rs110 Per Litre on Petrol and Rs96 Per Litre on Diesel

Taxes and duties remain at Rs110 per litre on petrol and Rs96 per litre on diesel. Diesel prices have fallen from a peak of Rs520.35 on April 3, while petrol peaked at Rs458.41 on April 3. Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik announced that fuel prices would now be set daily due to international market fluctuations following renewed US-Iran hostilities. The government had been revising prices weekly since March.
The daily pricing decision was rejected by the All Pakistan Dealers Association, which is considering a protest. Petrol is used mainly in private transport, while diesel powers heavy transport and power plants. Monthly sales of petrol and HSD total about 700,000 to 800,000 tonnes, compared to 10,000 tonnes for kerosene.
