The seventh round of US-mediated negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, which began in Rome on Monday, is set to last three days. Israel began intense airstrikes on Lebanon on March 2, occupying several towns in the south, and Lebanon's government said over 1 million people have been displaced. On April 24, US President Donald Trump announced a three-week extension of the 10-day temporary ceasefire that took effect April 17. After the third round of talks on May 14-15, the ceasefire was extended by 45 days from May 17. Lebanon's Health Ministry reported 4,333 deaths from Israeli attacks since March 2. Following the fifth round of direct negotiations in Washington, a framework agreement was signed on June 26.
