The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) continues to make adjustments to program quotas by taking into account many parameters such as Türkiye's employment planning, the need for workforce, areas that will come to the fore in the future and the correct direction of the country's human capital. According to the information obtained, this year, universities in Turkey and TRNC have 805 thousand 747 quotas, a total of 371 thousand 476 in associate degree programs, a total of 407 thousand 80 in undergraduate programs, and a total of 27 thousand 191 in special talent programs.
Of the quota, 602 thousand 117 were allocated for state, 184 thousand 914 for foundation, and 18 thousand 716 for universities in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). 17 thousand 862 special quotas were defined for school valedictorians, 3 thousand 673 for relatives of martyrs, veterans and relatives of veterans, and 10 thousand 363 for women over the age of 34. 16 new programs opened by YÖK, 7 of which are undergraduate programs and 9 of which are associate degrees, will accept students for the first time. In this context, there are 10 quotas in the "History and Artificial Intelligence" department, 18 in the "Philosophy and Artificial Intelligence" department, 10 in the "Business and Artificial Intelligence" department, 30 in the "Financial Technology" department, 40 in the "Biotechnology and Genetics" department, 40 in the "Paramedic" department and 30 in the "Fisheries Technology" department, which will be opened for the first time in the undergraduate program this year.
At the associate degree level, 80 in the "Artificial Intelligence Supported Web Design and Coding" department, 30 in the "Artificial Intelligence Supported Design and Animation" department, 60 in the "Digital Game Technologies" department, 30 in "Mobile Security Technologies", 30 in the "Pharmaceutical Production Technology" department, 90 in the "Explosive and Energetic Materials Technician" department, 105 in the "Livestock Technologies and Management" department, There are 30 quotas in the "Laboratory Animals" section and 30 quotas in the "Fishing Technology" section. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OPEN EDUCATION, THE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SUPPORTED CODING PROGRAM IS INCLUDED. YÖK added 2 new departments to the open education programs.
In this context, "Artificial Intelligence Supported Coding" and "Data Visualization and Information Design" programs will accept students from open education for the first time. 250 quotas were assigned to both departments. Thus, a total of 1163 quotas were allocated to these departments.
THERE ARE MORE THAN 18 THOUSAND QUOTAS IN MEDICAL FACULTIES. The quotas of nutrition and dietetics, computer engineering, dentistry, pharmacy, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, nursing, law, architecture, psychology and medicine programs have also been announced. In this context, the quota of the nutrition and dietetics program was 3 thousand 539, the quota of the computer engineering program was 13 thousand 430, the quota of the dentistry program was 6 thousand 587, the quota of the pharmacy program was 3 thousand 166, the quota of the physiotherapy and rehabilitation program was 5 thousand 98, and the quota of the nursing program was 16 thousand 845. This year, 8 thousand 812 quotas were allocated to the law program, 3 thousand 906 quotas to the architecture program, 10 thousand 465 quotas to the psychology program and 18 thousand 627 quotas to the medical program.
THE RANKING DAMAGE FOR ENTRANCE TO LAW FACULTIES HAS BECOME 100 THOUSAND. For candidates who want to choose law faculties, the lowest success ranking threshold applied to the entrance to these faculties has been reduced from 125 thousand to 100 thousand. In addition, candidates who will choose architecture faculties must have at least 250 thousand in numerical score type, those who will choose medical faculties must be in 50 thousand, those who will choose pharmacy faculties must be in 100 thousand, those who will choose dentistry faculties must be in 80 thousand, and those who will choose teaching programs must be in 300 thousand in the relevant score type.
THE QUOTA OF VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS OPERATING IN OIZ HAS BEEN INCREASED. The quota of programs in the field of "Computer and Information Sciences" at the associate degree level was 29 thousand 944 in 2022. This year, YÖK increased the total quota of departments in this field to 62 thousand 104, with an increase of 107 percent compared to 2022. There was also an increase in the quotas of vocational schools operating in organized industrial zones (OIZ). The number of quotas, which was 2 thousand 499 in 2022, was increased by approximately 70 percent to 4 thousand 245. The quotas of programs in the field of "Computer and Information Sciences", including "Artificial Intelligence Engineering", "Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering" and "Software Engineering" in undergraduate programs, increased by 23 percent compared to the quota in 2022 and reached 53 thousand 817 this year.
