Taddeucci Wins European Open-water Gold in Paris
Italy's Ginevra Taddeucci won gold in the women's 10km open-water swimming at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris on Tuesday, with teammate Linda Caponi taking bronze.
The 29-year-old overtook Hungary's Viktoria Mihalyvari Farkas with a lap and a half to go. After the race, Taddeucci criticized the Seine's water quality, saying, The Seine was pretty filthy; I found all kinds of stuff—branches and leaves on my goggles—and then loads of plastic. The medals lifted Italy's tally to 12, including four golds, with other wins in diving events.
