New Mexico Sues DOJ Over Epstein Ranch Probe Stonewalling
New Mexico sued the US Department of Justice and acting attorney general Todd Blanche on Wednesday, accusing them of "stonewalling" its criminal investigation into Jeffrey Epstein's activities at a ranch in the state.
New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez is suing the U.S. Department of Justice for complete and unredacted access to files from investigations into Jeffrey Epstein, citing the DOJ's delay in releasing documents as actively harming the state's criminal probe into alleged crimes at Zorro Ranch in Santa Fe County. Torrez's office says the DOJ has ignored at least ten requests for access to the documents, which are referenced thousands of times in the Epstein files. "New Mexico has a duty to protect survivors and investigate crimes committed in our state so that perpetrators can be held accountable, Torrez said in a statement Wednesday.
"Their delay is actively hurting our criminal investigation and delaying justice Epstein survivors deserve. The state launched its investigation in February after the Trump administration released millions of Epstein-related documents. The property, a 26,700-square-foot hilltop mansion once owned by Epstein, is referenced at least 13,000 times in the files. Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre, who died by suicide in 2025, was pictured at Zorro Ranch, and other survivors, including Annie Farmer, have described abuse there.
