Editor Mark Gurman Says Apple May Unveil Camera-equipped Airpods As Soon As Next Month, Possibly at the September Iphone Launch

The company's "B798" project, part of its wearable AI push, was previously delayed from 2026 to 2027. Gurman revealed a parallel internal project, codenamed B790, which is closer to mass production and could ship before year's end. Traces of the code appeared in the second iOS 27 developer beta. The cameras won't capture photos or video; instead, they'll feed live views to Siri and integrate with Visual Intelligence tools. The models are expected to cost more than current AirPods Pro and may be called AirPods Ultra.
