Wenger, in the role since 2019, issued a statement demanding "transparency and integrity, noting he was not involved and learned of the project through media reports. He is among 18 Fifa officials named in a document preservation letter from Uefa. Carlos Cordeiro, Infantino's senior adviser, resigned, calling it "a bad deal for football. Secretary general Mattias Grafstrom, a close ally, wrote in an internal memo that the week was difficult to comprehend and accept, urging staff to stay focused on serving football and the 211 member associations.
