The Met Gala, chaired by Anna Wintour, will celebrate his archival designs, with celebrities expected to wear his looks. Wintour said the exhibit will address "any of the darkness in John's past" and cover the "full arc" of his career. The New York Times reported that Wintour, Galliano, and curator Andrew Bolton consulted "influential rabbis and Jewish leaders" in New York.

Rabbi Rick Jacobs praised Galliano's sincerity, and Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt said the ADL has accepted his apology and applauds his efforts to repair damage. The Guardian reported the exhibit was originally planned for 2024 but postponed after board member concerns. Galliano, born in Gibraltar, started at Givenchy in 1995 and designed Princess Diana's 1996 Met Gala dress.

His recent red carpet work includes custom looks for Stevie Nicks at the 2026 Met Gala and Zendaya at the 2024 event. A 2024 documentary by Kevin Macdonald explored his redemption, during which Galliano called his actions "disgusting" and horrific.
